The Higher Certificate in Project Management NQF5 (Information Technology) will provide students with an industry-focused vocational skillset that focuses on the set of tools and techniques used for the initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closing of projects, which are applicable across a range of various problem domains. The qualification will enhance work readiness and provide entry into the field. A Project Manager applies knowledge of project management to achieve project objectives in a specific field of application.

 

Students are introduced to various IT systems, development methodologies, approaches and best practices within the IT services space. Students will familiarise themselves with key-concepts such as UX and UI design, monitoring and maintenance tools, modelling and systems analysis and systems design. At the end of the programme, students will have acquired the necessary skills to successfully conduct quality assurance and process improvement in the IT service management industry.

On successful completion of the PPM, suitable candidates may be eligible to apply for the professional designation of Project Manager (PM) conferred by Project Management South Africa (PMSA). PMSA is the SAQA recognised professional body representing the interests of project managers across sectors.

  • National Certificate (Vocational), NQF Level 4, granting access to Higher Certificate studies, OR
  • Senior Certificate, NQF Level 4 without Matriculation exemption, OR
  • Relevant qualification, NQF Level 4 in a cognate field of study OR
  • Foundation Programme (Business, Project Management & Entrepreneurship), OR
  • Recognition of prior learning through an RPL process

This qualification is also aimed at contributing towards the skills development of project management practitioners in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), in alignment with the requirements of the Institute of Information Technology Professionals South Africa (IITPSA).
