Certificate: Bookkeeping NQF4 (Junior/Senior Bookkeeper)

Overview

Bookkeepers perform general accounting duties. They maintain complete sets of financial records, keep track of accounts, and verify the accuracy of procedures used for recording financial transactions.

Bookkeeping is a rewarding career path and the reasons to study a bookkeeping course go further than just having a head for numbers and killer organizational skills. The field is constantly growing, isn’t narrow—nor is it boring (let’s bust that stereotype right now!). The noble bookkeeper does everything from maintaining financial records, problem solving to taking on the role of trusted financial advisor.

Our programme offers both qualifications on a junior and senior bookkeeping level and is accredited by ICB (Institute of Certified Bookkeepers) and FASSET SETA.

* NOTE: You can exit after completing a level but it is not reccomended.

Part 1: Foundation Level, National Certificate for Bookkeeping (Junior Bookkeeper)

The Foundational Level will give you the skills to keep records of financial affairs of a business.  You will learn Monthly bookkeeping to trial balance (manual and computerised); disclose profit and financial position; reconcile suppliers, inventory and bank statements; calculate PAYE/UIF/SDL; payroll tax and other deductions; EMP201, EMP501, IRP5, IRP6 and IT3a documents and VAT returns.

Part 2: Intermediate Level, FET Certificate for Bookkeeping (Senior Bookkeeper)

The Intermediate Level will give you the skills to keep records of financial affairs of the business on a Senior level and also the knowledge to be a Junior or Assistant Accountant. You will learn Monthly bookkeeping; asset disposal; year-end adjustments; International Financial Reporting Standards for SMMEs; branch accounts; incomplete records; analysis of financial statements; understand cash flow; basic cost and management accounts; prepare manufacturing accounts; costing and budgeting.
