National Certificate: Web and Interactive Media Design

Overview

The purpose of an Interactive Designer is to plan and create websites. This may not involve substantial academic content competent to the qualification, but rather focus on the practical aspects required such as authoring/compiling/putting together components for e-learning running off Internet, intranet, and CD ROM. In doing the former, qualifying learners can create an interface for communication, entertainment and information devices. In addition, qualifying learners are able to compile interactive presentations, graphics and photographic elements, 2D animation, that is, visual content for marketing purposes, to contribute to film, television, and video productions.

 

This qualification will equip the learners with the skills and knowledge to present content such as moving images, animation, video, audio and video game content.

Admission Requirements:

 

*Should the student not have any background in either arts or design it is HIGHLY recommended that the one year FET Certificate: Design Foundation NQF4 is completed prior to this qualification.

  • Duration

    Full Time 

    • 12 months, 130 credits (10 Sessions/Week, 2:00 hours each, +- 2 ½ day/week, class times are between 08:30 & 16:00) 
    • All credits are achieved via your study duration at the institute, studio time and project-based assignments. 

    *Sessions will be grouped together to lower cost of traveling, however, in some cases classes may not follow this convention and schedules are subject to change. 

     

    Online & Part Time  

    • Part Time = 12 months, 120 credits (2 x evening classes, 18:00 to 21:00, Mon & Wed OR Tues & Thur) 
    • Online = 12 Months, 120 credits (Online live classes, twice/week, 17:00 - 18:00, Mon & Wed OR Tues & Thurs) 
    • Credits are obtained through a combination of live virtual classes, pre-recorded video lectures and project-based tasks.
